Toy Room Organization Makeover

I used to consider my toy room pretty organized, but I started to realize my space wasn't working anymore. My game storage had turned into a disaster and my toy rotation system needed an upgrade. I decided to turn to the home organization experts, Nice and Neat Homes, for a total overhaul!

Here's how it all worked!

-I sent videos and photos of my current space to Nice and Neat Homes and shared my overall vision for the space! I made it clear that I wanted to include containers and storage solutions that were affordable and simple to get. I wasn't looking to spend $$$ at the container store.

-The team then went to work finding the best containers and storage organizers for my space. They sent me their suggestions and we quickly scheduled my at-home session. I want to point out that if you want to improve your space but not sure where to start, Nice and Neat Homes offers DIY Virtual consults. This is a great solution for those who want to do the actual organizing in their home. They develop an organization plan and hand over to you for execution.

-Because we collaborated on this project, I purchased all of my containers direct. Typically, Nice and Neat Homes would handle the container sourcing and bring to a client location.

-In early December, a team of 4 amazing ladies came to my home for an entire day and optimized my entire space. It turned out so perfectly I wasn't sure if I wanted my kids to even play in their toy room. I was blown away with how efficient and personalized they made my space. I was able to help share my vision for flow and which toys I wanted to keep in toy rotation.

I have rounded up all of the items that were used in my space. Below you will find details and links to everything!

xoxo

Before the team from Nice and Neat Homes overhauled my space.

  1. Utility Cart: I was using this cart to store Barbies and accessories and it wasn't working. It was repurposed to store art supplies, magnets, and other accessories for our white/blackboard.

  2. 4L Stacking Clear Bin: This bin is from Target and part of the Brightroom collection. It's 10.15"x6.81"x4.52". It's $5 and perfect for storing small piece sets like doll accessories, building toys, lego, food kits, and more. We used these containers in the Walmart Cubby and Home Depot Cabinet.

  3. Zipper Pouches: In Jan 2024 I took all of my games out of boxes and put in these zipper pouches. I do recommend cutting out the game logo and taping on the front of the pouch. I used the 11x16 multi-color pack. It comes with 24 pouches for $19. I stored these pouches in the XL Multipurpose Storage Bin Clear.

  4. 6 Cube Organizer: I already had one of these but purchased a second for my building zone. This organizer fits 13" containers. We put Y-Weave XL Basket in this cubby.

  5. Woven Scalloped Basket: I originally purchased 5 of these from Target and only needed three. They are so gorgeous and we used them to store all of my dress-ups! I really slimmed down what I put out. I used the large size, not floor.

  6. Y-Weave XL Basket: I was already using a few of these so I ended up buying about 10 more. These are really large and are great for holding blocks, building sets, cars, and more. We added label clips so my big kids could easily read and know where to put certain toys. The baskets are stored in the 6 Cube Organizer.

  7. Acrylic Caddy: If you can't tell, I love clear containers! This acrylic caddy is great for storing markers and chalk crayons.

  8. Card Game Holder: In March of 2024, I transfered all of my card games into this 4x6 storage organizer. I can't function without storing card games this way now. When we head to an airbnb, camping, or game night, we just grab the handled box. It's also really easy for my kids to open the game holder and see all of the options.

  9. Clear Latch Box: I needed to have some large storage bins for holding non-sorted games, beanie babies, and other random items that I wasn't ready to bring into the master toy space. These are low cost and I like that the top latches shut.

  10. Cabinets: These cabinets are hands down my favorite addition. I purchased two. One is being used to store games and the other to house items for toy storage rotation.

  11. 26L Stacking Clear Bin: This bin is from Target and is part of the Brightroom collection. It's 21.53"x14.92"x5.9". It's $16 and great for storing larger play sets. I used one of these to hold a bunch of Barbies and magnet play sets. These bins are stored within the Home Depot Cabinet.

  12. Coiled Baskets: I love toys to be seen so these market baskets were the perfect edition for storing all the play food.

  13. Rounded Storage Basket: Slam dunk for storing all of the baby dolls. I love that its lidded and CC and Caroline can easily open and access all of their dolls. This is from Amazon.

  14. Drawer Organizer: These are fantastic for storing small pieces. We ended up using these to store magnets and art supplies in the utility cart.

  15. Label Maker: Nice and Neat Homes brought this label maker but I ended up buying one so I could swap out labels as needed. I am constantly rotating toys since it's my job to try it all.

  16. 11L Stacking Clear Bin: This bin is from Target and is part of the Brightroom collection. It's 13.77"x6.02"x10.23". It's $10 and perfect for storing duplos, magnet blocks, pretend play sets, and more. These are stored with the Home Depot Cabinet and 8-Cube Organizer.

  17. Bin Clips: These bin clips are such a great choice when labeling the Y-Weave baskets. If you were to put a normal label on the Y-Weave baskets, it wouldn't stick very well.

  18. 8 Cube Organizer: I had this cubby in my house already which was awesome! This cubby fits 11" containers. We ended up using the 11L and 4L bins in this cubby.

  19. XL Multipurpose Storage Bin Clear: These bins fit perfectly in the Home Depot Cabinets. You can put three of these bins on each shelf. It's as if they were made for the cabinets.
